Pet Food Ratings is an independent resource offering dog and cat food reviews, nutrition articles, and ingredient guidance. Founded by David D’Angelo, the project draws on his experience researching pet foods since 2007 and his qualifications as a CPD-accredited pet nutritionist and veterinary support assistant. Its reviews assess products across categories including dry, grain-free, canned, air-dried, freeze-dried, raw, BARF, and homemade diets, with listings and reference tables to help readers compare options.

The site also covers topics such as food ingredients, omega fatty acids, carbohydrate calculations, diabetes, and how to assess nutrition claims. Pet Food Ratings aims to help pet owners make more informed choices and encourages closer examination of marketing and the suitability of foods for cats and dogs. Its extensive review collection includes products from many established brands, alongside practical nutrition resources and expert articles.

The website notes that some reviews are historical, reflecting its long-running coverage of the pet food industry, and invites readers to use them as a starting point for researching food for their animals
