The Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) is a Government of Pakistan department responsible for petroleum and natural resources matters. Established in April 1977, it develops and administers policies, laws, rules and regulations relating to the country’s petroleum sector. Its responsibilities span petroleum exploration and production, oil refining, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and related industries.

It also shares policy documents, exploration and production rules, and resources such as the Pakistan Petroleum Information Services and Pakistan Petroleum Exploration and Production Data Repository. Its work involves coordinating with attached departments and sector organisations, including the Department of Explosives, and supporting investment opportunities and industry development.

The ministry also promotes Pakistan’s mineral and mining potential, highlighting geological resources and investor opportunities through initiatives such as the Pakistan: A Mineral Marvel showcase at the Future Minerals Forum.
