The Swiss Guide and Scout Movement (SGSM) is Switzerland’s largest youth organisation, bringing together around 51,000 members in 534 local groups. Since 1910, it has offered children and teenagers opportunities to build friendships, enjoy outdoor adventures and learn to take responsibility for themselves and others. Scouting is open to everyone, regardless of origin, culture or religion, and activities are organised for five age levels, starting from age five.

Local groups typically meet on Saturdays for games, crafts, treasure hunts, knot-tying, bushcraft, cooking and first-aid learning. They also organise camps and other experiences in nature, with approximately 1,300 scout camps held each year. Children and young people can visit a group or attend a try-out day before deciding to join.

The movement is led by volunteers, including young adults who receive training and support from experienced leaders and coaches. SGSM also provides leadership courses and participates in international Scouting through WAGGGS and WOSM. Its activities encourage responsibility, cooperation and openness through shared experiences in Switzerland and abroad.
