Welcome to Pfahlbauten Unteruhldingen! We are delighted to invite you to experience the oldest archaeological open-air museum in Germany. Get ready for a journey through 10,000 years of history as you explore the recreated villages from the Stone and Bronze Ages. Walk on elevated walkways over the water to enjoy stunning lakeside views while our museum guides share insights into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps and how they existed underwater.
In addition to the immersive village experience, you can explore the Stone Age course with a fascinating peat house demonstration. End your visit with a visit to the exhibition The Legacy of the Pile Dwellers where you can discover over 1,000 original artifacts and explore the two first pile dwellings from 1922 with a special exhibition on the museum's beginnings.
