Pferdenotdienst Lübeck

The Lübeck Equine Veterinary Emergency Service is a regional network of seven equine veterinarians providing round-the-clock emergency care for horses in Lübeck and the surrounding area. Established on June 1, 2023, the service connects callers through a central 24-hour emergency number to the veterinarian currently on duty. Its participating practitioners are based in the region and bring years of experience in ambulatory equine practice, including the management of emergencies.

When owners call, a veterinarian assesses the situation by phone, offers professional guidance and gives practical instructions for immediate first aid. The attending veterinarian then provides necessary emergency treatment at the horse’s home stable. They determine the urgency of care during the initial call and can involve another network veterinarian if multiple patients need immediate attention. When hospital care is appropriate, the service can arrange referral and advise owners through the process. After treatment, the veterinarian may update the horse’s regular veterinarian on the next working day.
