PGCKC

Prince George Canoe & Kayak Club (PGCKC) introduces children and youth to paddling and supports them as they build skills in canoeing, kayaking, and other water sports. The club runs programs at West Lake, also known as Nadsilnich Lake Provincial Park, about 30 minutes from Prince George. Sessions generally take place from June to August, when the lake is suitable for paddling. Programs are organized by skill level on the club’s website and by date through RAMP, which is also used for registration.

PGCKC provides boats, paddles, lifejackets, and other necessary equipment, helping young participants get started without needing to supply all their own gear. NCCP-trained volunteer coaches guide paddlers through learning and skill development, with a pathway for those interested in progressing toward competition, including the BC Summer Games. The club also welcomes prospective coaches, with opportunities to coach at the lake in summer or at the PG Aquatic Center during fall, winter, and spring. Coaching course fees are reimbursed after volunteers complete the required minimum hours.
