PHARA Community Services is a community organization serving North Bay and nearby communities since 1975. It provides services in both of Canada’s official languages for people with disabilities and offers housing opportunities for people with low or moderate incomes. Its work is focused on promoting independence, inclusion and quality of life.
PHARA’s programs include personal support services, respite care, assisted living, community links and post-stroke transitional care, alongside community education and support for people with lower care needs. Its housing includes homes at three North Bay locations, with rents offered at income-based, affordable and market rates. The organization also provides a free assistive-device and mobility-equipment loan program, lending non-electric accessibility equipment for up to 90 days and helping keep usable items out of landfill.
Additional resources include help with food, health and well-being, housing, utilities and recreation. PHARA supports future personal support workers through training funding and scholarships, and welcomes community participation through volunteering, donations and other fundraising initiatives.
