About PHAU
Public Health Ambassadors Uganda (PHAU) is a youth-led organization based in Makindye, Kampala, Uganda. Originally established in 2011 as a club for Music, Dance, and Drama at Clarke International University, PHAU has evolved into an entity dedicated to increasing awareness and adoption of safe adolescent sexual and reproductive health practices through edutainment. With a focus on promoting the physical, social, and mental wellbeing of young people, PHAU offers free Latin, hip-hop, and ballroom dance classes to university and secondary school students.
The organization employs a mix of approaches, including informative and performance arts such as plays, poems, dance narratives, and flash mobs, to engage and educate young people about sexual and reproductive health. PHAU also advocates for Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (ASRHR) through community development initiatives, youth empowerment, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship. By empowering young people to make informed decisions about their health, PHAU aims to create a positive impact in the lives of Ugandan youth
