About Philadelphia Cycling Classic
The Philadelphia Cycling Classic is a professional road-cycling event rooted in the city’s sporting culture. First established in 1985, the race is known for bringing elite cyclists onto public streets, where neighborhoods become the course and spectators can watch for free. After a decade-long absence, the Classic returned to Philadelphia, renewing a tradition celebrated by cycling fans and local communities alike.
The event features men’s and women’s racing on the same iconic course, with equal prize money. Its route includes the challenging Manayunk Wall and passes through areas such as Roxborough, East Falls, Strawberry Mansion, and Lemon Hill. Beyond the races, the Philadelphia Cycling Classic offers a broader race-weekend experience, including a charity ride, fan fest, time trial, and opportunities to volunteer. The organization also shares race news, viewing information, results, and event updates, and offers limited race-day merchandise. Supported by sponsors, partners, city workers, and volunteers, the Classic presents professional cycling as a community-wide celebration and a distinctive way to experience Philadelphia.
