Philately Life is a digital archive and educational project exploring the history, culture and art of the world through postage stamps, with a particular focus on India’s postal heritage. Its hand-collected, catalogued and photographed material is presented in online albums and a searchable catalogue, inviting collectors and curious visitors to explore the story behind each item.
The collection covers Indian philately from 1852 to the Republic, including British India, Indian princely states, Portuguese India, French India, revenue stamps, and issues associated with Independence. Albums feature stamps from the reigns of Victoria through George VI, as well as military overprints, Azad Hind labels and early Republic issues. Catalogue entries provide details such as dates, printing methods, perforation and condition. The site also highlights individual items, including the 1854 Four Annas lithograph.
Beyond stamps, Philately Life presents historical postcards depicting places and everyday scenes across India, alongside a postal chronology, journal and resources.
