Philip Morris Switzerland Sàrl is the Swiss subsidiary of Philip Morris International (PMI), with its headquarters and PMI’s global operations centre in Lausanne. More than 1,500 employees there support around 180 markets in areas including marketing, public and legal affairs, sales, and finance. Neuchâtel is home to PMI’s global research and development centre, where more than 400 scientists, engineers, and technicians work, as well as a production facility serving the Swiss market and exporting to more than 40 countries. The company’s Swiss history dates to 1957, when it agreed with Fabriques de Tabac Réunies in Neuchâtel to produce the first Marlboro cigarettes made outside the United States.

Its portfolio includes conventional cigarettes and smoke-free alternatives. The company says its vision is to replace cigarettes with smoke-free products as soon as possible, and its website highlights research, product development, scientific testing, and information about its tobacco-heating product. It also outlines work on environmental sustainability, corporate responsibility, litter prevention, and reducing carbon emissions.
