Phoenix Freestyle

Phoenix Freestyle Martial Arts is a martial arts school in Colchester, Essex, offering classes for people of different ages and abilities. Established in 2013, the club welcomes newcomers and provides a free first session, with no immediate need to buy special equipment or commit to membership. Its training spans traditional and contemporary disciplines, including Kung Fu, Chinese Kickboxing (Sanshou), Jian Shou Chuan (Splashing Hands) and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, with both gi and no-gi BJJ sessions listed.

Classes develop practical self-defence, striking, forms, weapons skills, conditioning, grappling and ground fighting. The school also offers junior classes, open mat training, regular gradings and opportunities to compete in the UK and internationally. Led by chief instructor Martyn Morrisson, the club describes its instructors as experienced and qualified to teach in safe, friendly environments.

Membership options include pay-as-you-go sessions and packages ranging from two classes a week to unlimited training, as well as one-to-one sessions; the Colchester branch advertises no contracts or sign-up fees. Timetabled classes are available in Colchester and Clacton
