Die Österreichische Plattform für Lichttechnologien Das Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Innovation und Technologie (bmvit) hat die Errichtung der österreichischen Technologieplattform Photonics Austria initiiert, um gemeinsam mit Vertretern aus Wirtschaft und Forschung eine starke Präsenz auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene zu erreichen und den Austausch zwischen Wirtschaft, Forschung und Lehre zu fördern. Die Hauptaufgaben von Photonics Austria sind die Entwicklung nationaler und internationaler Forschungsstrategien und –programme zu sichern und die Vernetzung mit europäischen Aktivitäten voranzutreiben.

About Photonics Austria
Photonics Austria is a leading Austrian platform for photonics, offering a wide range of products and services. They are involved in various projects and partnerships to advance the field of photonics. One of their upcoming projects is Phorwards21, where they will develop and implement a comprehensive industrial strategy for photonics in Europe.
This project will focus on collaboration with end-users and other Deep-Tech partnerships, as well as strengthening connections with national ministries and financial actors. Specific action plans will be developed to prioritize research and industrial implementation, including the creation of pilot lines and suitable frameworks. Another exciting project is CARLA360, building on the success of CARLA, aiming to engage and inspire students and researchers in photonics.
CARLA360 will cover four focus areas: healthcare, quantum technologies/communications, energy/environment/sustainability, and manufacturing/industry 4. 0. An event will also be organized to showcase photonics technologies and companies, facilitating networking opportunities between employers and potential employees.
