About PhysicsOverflow
PhysicsOverflow is an open academic platform for physicists and astronomers, combining community peer review with a postgraduate-level discussion forum. Designed for graduate-level and advanced users, it covers theoretical, phenomenological, and experimental physics, as well as astronomy, applied and computational physics, and mathematics approached from a physics perspective. Members can ask and answer questions, discuss open problems, and explore topics through searchable categories and tags.
The platform also supports scholarly publishing workflows. Researchers can submit papers for community review, claim authorship, and access tools for managing submissions and reviews. Its review section brings open refereeing into the community, while moderation and public discussion areas support constructive participation and platform governance. PhysicsOverflow also provides resources for users migrating posts from Stack Exchange sites, including account and post-claiming tools.
With thousands of questions and answers, dedicated subject areas, and a community of researchers and learners, PhysicsOverflow offers a space to exchange advanced ideas, seek informed feedback, and engage with physics literature. The site is based at the Physics Department of Bielefeld University.
