About PiG Coding Agent
PiG is a Go implementation of Pi, created by Michael Kinsy and originally developed at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It aims to bring Pi’s behavior, architecture, and user experience to Go while treating compatibility with the upstream project as a core feature. Pi remains the reference implementation, and PiG also offers an SDK for embedding the agent in Go applications.
The project provides a single-binary installation, with install scripts that verify downloads against release SHA256 checksums. Users can run PiG through an interactive terminal interface, print or JSON modes, RPC, or the SDK. It supports more than 15 providers and hundreds of models, with API key and OAuth authentication. Its capabilities include extensible commands, tools, providers, workflows, and interfaces; configurable context through project instructions, prompts, skills, and system files; and tree-structured sessions that can be branched, searched, exported, or shared. Extensions can be built in several languages, while Piglets combine capabilities into agent applications. PiG keeps application-specific behavior outside its core.
