PIA, also known as PIA(주식회사 피아이에이), is an Alternative Investment specialist company that was founded in 2008 during the global financial crisis triggered by the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers. The company initially focused on investing in distressed financial institutions and special situations of companies. PIA began its journey by acquiring a large number of high-quality bonds previously held by Lehman Brothers, achieving remarkable investment results.

Over time, PIA expanded its scope by recruiting top talents and venturing into real estate development and acquiring non-performing assets from domestic financial institutions. PIA has successfully completed asset acquisitions amounting to approximately 875 billion KRW (based on OPB capital) since its establishment in 2009. Based on its successful investment performance, PIA raised a USD 200 million NPL fund in 2014, allowing the company to engage in real estate development projects worth around 2 trillion KRW.

To further enhance its alternative investment capabilities, PIA established PIA Asset Management in late 2016. This subsidiary focuses on discovering and investing in various alternative investment opportunities, including real estate both domestically and internationally, as well as energy, infrastructure, and private equity. Additionally, PIA established PIA Infra in 2019, a separate entity that specializes in domestic and international infrastructure investment and consulting.
