Pianeta 21 Salerno ODV is a volunteer organisation founded in Salerno in 2012 by parents and relatives of people with Down syndrome. It supports children, young people and adults, together with their families, in developing autonomy, participating in community life and pursuing opportunities at every stage of life. Its work is organised around everyday independence, learning, employment and social participation.
Through educational and social projects, the organisation helps people build personal and daily living skills, continue learning, explore their abilities, prepare for work and take part in relationships, leisure activities and active citizenship. Its programmes include group workshops for children and young people and initiatives focused on autonomy and inclusion. Pianeta 21 also offers families support and creates opportunities for connection with local partners and the wider community.
Activities include educational sessions, outings, local workshops and creative initiatives such as a theatre laboratory. Based in Salerno, the organisation is registered in Italy’s National Single Register of the Third Sector and welcomes support through volunteering and Italy’s 5x1000 tax donation scheme
