About Pico Union Project
The Pico Union Project is a dynamic brand dedicated to building an equitable community. They offer a range of programs and services that benefit both local residents and the wider community. One of their initiatives is Group Verda, an award-winning community beautification program that hires residents and volunteers to plant and care for gardens, trees, and parkways in the surrounding area.
They also host Vida Sana, a weekly Farmers Market that provides fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as healthy living workshops for neighborhood families. Another program is Súper Miércoles, which offers guitar, art, taekwondo, and ESL classes, as well as a community dinner every Wednesday. Additionally, the Pico Union Project organizes The Shabbat Table, a monthly dinner that brings people of different backgrounds and faiths together through shared stories, poetry, and song.
They also offer mentorship programs and host diverse arts and cultural events in their 375 seat sanctuary. Located in the oldest synagogue building in Los Angeles, the Pico Union Project is committed to preserving and advancing the vibrant Pico Union neighborhood, which is home to a rich mix of immigrant communities. They rely on the support of generous individuals and partnerships with respected organizations to create meaningful programs and events.
