Pieperrace is a Volendam sailing event organized by Stichting Pieperrace, a foundation established to promote Volendam and encourage water sports. Since 1985, the foundation has held annual sailing days on the southern IJsselmeer, making the race a popular opening to the sailing season. Its flagship event brings traditional sailing vessels together off the coast of Volendam, offering a lively spectacle for participants and visitors.
The 40th edition is scheduled for 11 and 12 April 2026. Registration is available through the event website, with an additional opportunity to register and complete payment at café ’t Gat van Nederland on Friday, 10 April. A list of registered boats features vessels such as De Vrijheid, Houtrib, Pelikaan, and BU 17, reflecting the event’s strong sailing community.
