About Pietenpol
The Brodhead Pietenpol Association (BPA), based in Brodhead, Wisconsin, is a vibrant non-profit educational organization dedicated to the legacy and promotion of the Pietenpol Aircamper and Sky Scout. Originally formed in 1975 as the National Pietenpol Association, the BPA restructured in 2017 to enhance its mission of supporting owners, pilots, builders, and enthusiasts of these classic amateur-built aircraft.
With a global membership exceeding 600, the BPA focuses on aviation safety, shares best building practices, and pays homage to Bernard Pietenpol, the pioneering designer of the two-seat airplane powered by Ford Model A engines. Members benefit from a quarterly newsletter rich in technical tips, builder stories, and aircraft profiles. The association hosts an annual fly-in event, offering seminars on construction techniques and safety for antique aircraft, fostering community among aviation enthusiasts. With deep roots in grassroots aviation, the BPA continues to celebrate the history and community of Pietenpol aviation at Brodhead Airport, a hub for amateur builders since 1946.
