Pihlavan Talli

Pihlavan Talli is a family-style rural stable and therapy provider in Kiihtelysvaara, Finland, set amid the region’s rolling countryside. Founded in 2000, the business has developed from a riding stable into a service focused primarily on rehabilitation and therapy. Its offerings include equine-assisted therapy, nature-, farm- and animal-assisted occupational therapy, social pedagogy involving horses, and horse-skills coaching. Pihlavan Talli is a KELA service provider for equine-assisted therapy and occupational therapy.

The farm environment and its animals provide varied, sensory-rich activities, while the stable emphasizes comfort, safety, meaningful experiences and personal interaction. Horses Touko, Aaru, Poca and Recita take part in the work. Riding therapy supports the development of body awareness and the management of emotions and behaviour. Although lessons and camps have been reduced as the focus shifted toward therapeutic services, private riding lessons may still be available, and experienced riders can enquire about long-term horse rental arrangements. Pihlavan Talli’s story began in Hammaslahti before moving to Ilomantsi and, in 2006, to its current farm in Kiihtelysvaara.
