Pihtipudas-Seura

Pihtipudas-Seura ry is a local heritage association focused on improving conditions in its area and strengthening residents’ knowledge of their home region and sense of community. Active since its founding, the association’s work has expanded to include heritage preservation, cultural activities, events, publications and community facilities.

Its sites and projects include the Kotiseutumuseo, a local history museum housed in an old granary acquired by the association in 1960 and opened to visitors in 1962, and Wanha Pappila, a venue available for gatherings and celebrations, with seating and tableware for more than 80 people. The association also offers the Pihtipudas-Koru, inspired by a pottery fragment found in an archaeological excavation in Pihtipudas and dated to the Comb Ceramic period.

Pihtipudas-Seura organizes activities such as genealogy events, publishes local-history material including Pihtiputaan Joulu and Pihtiputaan Kirja II, and sells Pihtipudas-themed products such as greeting cards. It invites people to join as members and shares local news and event information, offering residents opportunities to participate in local initiatives.
