Pilzschule Nordwest

Pilzschule Nordwest is a regional mushroom education service led by Konstantin Plump, an M.Sc. biologist and certified mushroom expert with the German Society for Mycology (DGfM). Based in the Cuxhaven district, particularly Drangstedt, and Bremerhaven, the school introduces participants to the diversity, ecology, lifestyles and human significance of fungi.

Its offerings include guided nature walks, tastings, seminars, tailored events for individuals and companies, and professional development courses, including teacher training through SEFO. Programs provide beginners with foundational knowledge, regional tips and recommendations, whether they seek a one-time outdoor experience or a deeper introduction to mycology. Participants can also arrange short-notice mushroom basket or find checks. Plump volunteers in this role for the DGfM, discussing the edibility, culinary enjoyment and preparation of collected fungi.

The school combines practical learning with an appreciation of fungi in their natural environment. Plump also works as a teacher and is active in regional nature conservation.
