Pinxeel

W.S.V. Pinxeel is a nationwide Dutch watersports association for gay men who share a passion for boating and sailing. Founded in the 1980s to organise an annual Whitsun sailing trip, the club has grown to more than 100 members, ranging in age from 18 to 88. Most members own a boat, from small sailboats to motorboats and motorsailers, while others join as guests aboard members’ vessels or rent a boat.

Pinxeel organises social and watersports activities on the water and ashore, including sailing weekends and group trips. Many events take place around the Markermeer and IJsselmeer, where numerous members keep their boats. Members can meet others with similar interests, share experience, offer advice and build friendships. The club’s boats can be recognised by the rainbow flag flown by members.

Membership costs €20 per person per calendar year, with a €5 registration fee for new members in their first year. A boat is not required to join, and members are invited to club meetings and events, where places for guest sailors are often available.
