The Pioneer Club is a youth and community charity in St Albans, Hertfordshire, founded in 1941 to support evacuees arriving from London during the Second World War. Today, it remains a community hub focused on youth culture, offering activities across skateboarding, music, dance and the arts. The club is home to the UK’s oldest indoor skatepark, with public skating sessions, after-school activities, weekend socials, quarterly skate jams and beginner evenings.
Its Sunday Skate School provides coaching for young skaters, while programmes such as Step Forward support young people who are struggling at school and help build confidence and resilience. The Pioneer Club also operates as a live grassroots music venue, hosting local and established artists, club nights and performances spanning a range of musical styles. Its facilities are available for venue hire, and the organisation offers ways for people to get involved through its events, youth programmes and community activities
