Panama Rainforest Discovery Center is an ecotourism and environmental education project administered by the Eugene Eisenmann Avifauna Foundation. Located beside Pipeline Road in Gamboa, on the edge of Soberanía National Park, the center promotes bird conservation through environmental sustainability projects and offers visitors an immersive introduction to Panama’s rainforest, about a 40-minute drive from Panama City.

Visitors can explore forest trails, watch hummingbirds at the Visitor Center, and climb a 32-meter observation tower for views above the forest canopy. The 1.1-kilometer trail circuit ranges from easy to moderately difficult and includes a resting spot beside Calamito Lake. The sustainably designed Visitor Center uses solar power, rainwater collection, and recycled materials, and provides restrooms, a deck, and complimentary coffee or tea. The center also shares bird lists, videos, sounds, and publications, with tours and reservations available through its website. Pipeline Road is internationally known for birdwatching, making the center a useful base for discovering the area’s diverse birds and other wildlife.
