Pite lappmarks flora

Föreningen Pite lappmarks flora is a Swedish botanical association focused on exploring and documenting the plant life of the Pite Lappmark region, including areas around Arjeplog and Arvidsjaur. Its work combines botanical field activities with the collection and sharing of knowledge about local flora. The association has supported a decade-long effort to map plants across the region, recording findings in Artportalen and publishing Tio år med floran i Pite lappmark, a 260-page account of this work.

The organization also helps arrange guided botanical walks and nature outings, often in partnership with local groups such as Magasin Silvervägen and ABF Norr. These excursions introduce participants to reserves and landscapes including Märkberget and Märkforsen, where guides help identify wild plants, alpine flora and orchids. Some outings include quizzes, refreshments or opportunities to continue to nearby summits. Activities are led by botanists and knowledgeable local guides, and are designed to make regional plant life accessible to residents and visitors while contributing to greater awareness of the area’s natural environment.
