Pitztal Wild Face is a freeride extreme competition held on the north face of Mittagskogel in Austria’s Pitztal region. Unlike conventional freeride contests, where judges award points for a rider’s line, this event ranks competitors by their time on a single race run. Since 2013, it has been staged as a Freeride World Qualifier under the Freeride World Tour, and is a two-star qualifier with a distinctive timed format.
The competition offers four categories: men’s and women’s skiing, and men’s and women’s snowboarding. Up to 100 riders can take part, with start numbers assigned at the riders’ meeting after a required course inspection on the previous day. Depending on category and finishing position, participants can earn points toward the Freeride World Qualifier series.
Registration is completed online through the Freeride World Tour website, and participation requires payment of an entry fee and an FWT licence. Pitztal Wild Face also shares event schedules, results, past editions, highlights, galleries, and a hall of fame.
