About Partners for Life Advancement and Education Promotion
PLAEP | Kitwe is a faith-based non-profit organization located in Kitwe, Zambia. Since its establishment in 2005, PLAEP has been dedicated to addressing the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS in Kitwe and beyond. Their core activities include HIV/AIDS prevention services, economic strengthening initiatives for low-income communities (with a focus on women and girls), and support for orphans and vulnerable children.
Through community, school, and health center outreach, PLAEP provides HIV/AIDS prevention services. They also facilitate the formation of community savings and lending groups and run a community school that benefits over 600 children. Additionally, PLAEP has established social enterprises to further their mission.
Recognizing that the effects of HIV/AIDS extend beyond health, PLAEP also addresses pre-disposing factors such as poverty, gender-based violence, and substance abuse. Their interventions are integrated, providing a multi-pronged approach to community challenges. PLAEP strives to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals by building incomes, providing education, and breaking the cycle of poverty.
They focus on reducing poverty, HIV/AIDS prevalence, infant/maternal mortality rates, and the negative effects of climate change. The organization works to empower communities, particularly women, through sustainable livelihood initiatives. With a dedicated board and committed professionals, PLAEP aims to create sustainable change and make a positive impact in underserved communities
