About Planes of Fame
Planes of Fame Air Museum was founded by Edward T. Maloney, a passionate aviation enthusiast who dedicated his life to preserving the history of flight. From a young age, Maloney was captivated by airplanes, building detailed scale models and immersing himself in the stories of famous pilots.
The impact of World War II deeply affected him, as he witnessed the scrapping of warbirds and the destruction of valuable technical manuals. Determined to rescue and preserve aircraft, Maloney began collecting and trading them, which eventually led to the establishment of the first aviation museum in the western United States in 1957. Today, the Planes of Fame Air Museum is a renowned institution with a remarkable collection of flying and static aircraft.
Maloney's dedication to aviation history is evident through his authorship of fifteen books and his advocacy for the protection of museums and historical artifacts. Planes of Fame Air Museum continues to honor Maloney's legacy by providing visitors with an immersive experience, educational programs, and a chance to witness the beauty of flight firsthand
