Planet FM 104. 6 is a not-for-profit community-based radio station located in Auckland, New Zealand. We are dedicated to providing a radio broadcast facility to community groups and individuals who have limited access to the airwaves.

At Planet FM, we offer facilities, advice, training, and technical support to empower these groups and individuals to create their own radio programmes. Our history dates back to 1987 when Access Community Radio Auckland was incorporated. After years of temporary licenses, we secured a permanent frequency in 1989 and rebranded as Planet FM 104.

6 in 2000. Today, we broadcast from our dedicated premises at #79 Carrington Road, on the Mt. Albert campus of Unitec.

We take pride in training individuals in programme preparation, research, recording, and live show operations. Once your programme application is approved, we create a personalized training programme for you, completely free of charge. Planet FM is funded through airtime fees, membership subscriptions, and support from NZ On Air.

We are committed to fulfilling the broadcasting needs of minority interests, needs, and groups, in accordance with Section 36c of the Broadcasting Act. Over the years, Planet FM has received awards from various communities, including the NZ Radio Awards and Media Peace Awards. In 2004, we were honored with a Special Achievement Award from the NZ Peace Foundation for our commitment to creating an open and tolerant environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds.
