Plantage Dok

Plantage Dok is a community-led meeting place in Amsterdam’s Plantage neighbourhood, bringing together residents, artists, organisers and visitors around culture, food and shared initiatives. It describes itself as an art community, people’s kitchen and venue, and its spaces include Dokzaal and the Dokhuis Gallery, which host events and cultural activities. The programme features film screenings, exhibitions, performances, music, community gatherings and benefit events. Plantage Dok also offers a guest atelier and welcomes people with ideas for performances, exhibitions or other contributions to its regular Dok evenings.

Food is an important part of the community’s activities. Thursday Dok evenings include a vegan kitchen, while Taste Before You Waste runs Wasteless Wednesday, serving vegan food on a donation basis. The initiative aims to help consumers reduce food waste by sharing inspiration, knowledge and opportunities for more responsible, low-waste consumption. Plantage Dok also shares news, event listings and information about its members, or “Dokkers,” and collaborates with cultural and community partners.
