About Plant-Based Foods Europe
Plant-Based Foods Europe is a European association representing the interests of manufacturers of plant-based foods. Established in 2003, it brings together internationally operating companies, from large corporations to small family-owned businesses, with annual turnover of more than €1.4 billion. Its members produce plant-based alternatives to dairy and meat products, including brands such as Alpro, Oatly, Sojasun and Valsoia.
The association works to raise awareness of how plant-based foods can contribute to healthier and more sustainable consumption patterns. It shares information on including these foods in a balanced diet, drawing on input from its Scientific Advisory Committee to ground its positions and communications in current scientific evidence. Plant-Based Foods Europe also supports the growth of protein crops in Europe, highlighting their role in crop rotation and more sustainable agriculture. Its sustainability work explores how diets with more plant-based foods may ease pressure on land and water and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. Through news, press releases, position papers and joint statements, the organisation engages with policymakers and stakeholders on issues affecting the plant-based food sector, including agriculture, sustainability and fair product labelling.
