Plants

Plants Beginner is a personal gardening website documenting one enthusiast’s journey from novice plant owner to home gardener and small-scale farm builder. Run by “Man-chan,” a Kawasaki-based tax accountant whose interest in plants began through his wife, the site shares practical experiences, discoveries, and lessons—including the setbacks that come with learning to grow unfamiliar plants. Its focus is on cacti, cycads, palms, and especially Yucca rostrata, with an emphasis on dry gardens and outdoor landscaping.

Visitors can explore records of the author’s home garden, an approximately 80-square-meter rented plot in Fujisawa used mainly to grow Yucca rostrata, and a larger property in Futtsu, Chiba, where he has been developing a garden and farm project. The site also features plant purchase notes, recommended garden centers, project updates, and a community message board for fellow plant enthusiasts. Articles cover species such as agave, aloe, yucca, and palms, alongside garden preparation and land improvement. A YouTube channel and Instagram account extend the project’s plant-focused content.
