About Canada Plastics Pact
The Canada Plastics Pact is a collaborative platform that aims to create a circular economy for plastic in Canada, with the goal of eliminating plastic waste and pollution. It brings together businesses, government, non-governmental organizations, and other key actors in the local plastics value chain to tackle plastic packaging waste and pollution. The partnership is committed to achieving clear and actionable targets by the year 2025, including designating problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging for elimination, ensuring that 100% of plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable, effectively recycling or composting 50% of plastic packaging, and incorporating 30% recycled content across all plastic packaging.
The Canada Plastics Pact is a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Global Plastics Pact network, which promotes knowledge sharing and coordinated action to address plastic waste and pollution. The initiative is guided by the vision of a circular economy for plastic and is focused on tackling plastic pollution with innovative solutions. Through its partnerships, research, studies, and events, the Canada Plastics Pact is driving tangible change and working towards a future where plastic waste is kept in the economy and out of the environment
