Plastiki Rafiki is a socially conscious brand dedicated to tackling the issue of plastic waste in Kenya. Founded by the Construction by Design (CBD) service club at the International School of Kenya, Plastiki Rafiki aims to improve the community through Design Thinking and Construction. With a mission to protect Kenya's natural treasures, the brand focuses on creating innovative design solutions for plastic waste.

Plastiki Rafiki is known for its open-source plastic recycling initiatives, utilizing designs from the precious plastic community. By building low-cost machines using locally available materials, such as the compression machine, injection machine, shredder, and extrusion machine, Plastiki Rafiki enables efficient plastic recycling. They continuously work on modifying these machines to better suit the Kenyan context, including experimenting with biogas versions.

As a nonprofit enterprise, all profits generated by Plastiki Rafiki are reinvested into machine and product development, rubbish clean-up initiatives, and grassroots plastic recycling workshops through the Plastiki Rafiki Network. Their student-run approach, led by high school students from the International School of Kenya, promotes local employment and empowers communities. With a scalable and sustainable model, Plastiki Rafiki strives to make a significant impact on the environment while creating functional and long-lasting products.
