About PLATYPUS
The Australian Platypus Conservancy is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the conservation of the platypus and its freshwater habitats. Established in 1994, the Conservancy aims to link research findings with community action to protect and strengthen platypus and Australian water-rat populations. Working in collaboration with management agencies, universities, businesses, and community groups, the Conservancy conducts projects to gain a deeper understanding of platypus populations and their needs.
They also identify factors that limit population size and survival and develop improved methods for surveying and monitoring these fascinating creatures. Additionally, the Conservancy maps the occurrence of the Australian water-rat (rakali) and raises awareness about its significance. As a registered environmental charity, the Conservancy relies on support from individuals, organizations, and sponsors who care about the future of the platypus.
Donations towards platypus and rakali conservation efforts are greatly appreciated and can be made online or via bank transfer. Join the Conservancy in protecting these unique and iconic Australian species
