Playwrights Canada Press is Canada's leading publisher of theatre books. With a strong focus on promoting Canadian plays, as well as theatre history, criticism, and biography, our mission is to elevate the profile of Canadian theatre and its practitioners. We are committed to contributing to the Canadian theatrical canon by publishing diverse and compelling works that are of literary merit.

Established in 1984 as an imprint of the Playwrights Guild of Canada, Playwrights Canada Press became an independent publishing company in 2000. Over the years, our catalog has grown significantly. We now publish approximately 30 books annually, including plays, theatre history, and criticism.

While based in Ontario, we proudly represent playwrights from across Canada, spanning from Newfoundland to British Columbia and the Yukon. In addition to English plays, we also publish French plays by Canadian authors translated into English and include theatre for young audiences. We are a member of several prestigious literary organizations, including the Association of Canadian Publishers and the Literary Press Group.
