About Plone
Plone is an open-source content management system (CMS) developed and supported by a global, community-driven organization backed by the Plone Foundation. First released in 2001, it has a history of more than 20 years and is designed for organizations that value security, openness, trust, and control over their digital content. Plone 6 combines a Python backend with a modern React-based editing experience, making content management fast and accessible for editors.
The platform offers tools for creating, organizing, and managing content, along with a REST API that supports headless CMS projects and custom frontends. Organizations can run Plone on their own infrastructure or in the cloud, while retaining ownership of their data and using an open-source software stack. Plone’s services and resources include downloads, documentation, training, security guidance, community support, and connections to solution providers. Developers can extend and adapt the system with help from its community. The Plone Foundation, contributors, events, and sponsors support the project’s ongoing development and long-term sustainability.
