Plons

Plons is a swimming club in The Hague for adults aged 18 and over, welcoming the LHBTIQ+ community and allies in an open, inclusive and safe environment. Founded in 1992, it was the Netherlands’ first LHBTIQ+ swimming club and has grown to around 175 members. The club combines structured swimming with a strong social atmosphere, offering training on almost every day of the week to suit a range of schedules and abilities.

Regular sessions take place at De Blinkerd, Overbosch and Hofbad swimming pools, led by qualified trainers and coaches. Members can choose recreational or competitive swimming, from fitness-focused sessions to preparation for national and international events, including the EuroGames and Gay Games. Plons also offers seasonal activities such as open-water swimming in summer, and outdoor-pool and ice-swimming activities in winter.

Beyond training, the club organises social gatherings, dinners and other events. Plons is affiliated with the Royal Dutch Swimming Federation (KNZB), whose membership applies to all club members, and with the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF).
