PMBL Camps is a community-focused organization founded in Philadelphia by people committed to using basketball to help young people recognize their potential. Since launching its first international camp in Treasure Beach, Jamaica, in 2012, the program has grown to serve more than 1,000 children, with its 2019 camp reaching over 1,100 participants. Guided by the belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive, regardless of race or religion, PMBL Camps promotes unity through its “One Team, One Dream” ethos.
The camps combine basketball instruction and friendly competition with activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Children take part in age- and skill-based groups, fundamental drills, shooting, passing and dribbling challenges, and individual coaching. The program also includes yoga and self-defense, and is working to add computer literacy and trade skills. Campers receive breakfast, and the organization welcomes monetary and material donations, including shoes, clothing, basketballs, and laptops, to support children and camp operations. PMBL Camps also invites community members to help through introductions and volunteering.
