POCITYF is an EU-funded smart city project dedicated to spearheading the evolution of historical cities. With a focus on making these cities greener, smarter, and more livable while preserving their cultural heritage, POCITYF is playing a crucial role in Europe's ambition to become the first Carbon Neutral Continent by 2050. The project is centered around implementing and testing Positive Energy Districts in various cities, with Alkmaar and Évora serving as the primary testbeds.

Additionally, six other cities are observing and replicating POCITYF's model, leading to the formation of a community of smart heritage cities. POCITYF is also at the forefront of developing integrated solutions for renewable energy transitions, including initiatives for positive energy buildings and districts, P2P energy storage and management, e-mobility integration, and citizen-driven co-creation.
