Poëzieweek

Poëzieweek is an annual literary event taking place in Flanders and the Netherlands from January 30 to February 5. In 2025, the Poëzieweek celebrates its thirteenth edition, with the evocative theme of 'lijfelijkheid' (physicality). The featured poet, Charlotte Van den Broeck, has crafted a special Poetry Gift comprising ten original poems that delve into this theme, inspired by her collection 'Kameleon.'

The event promotes poetry through a variety of activities, aimed at engaging libraries, bookstores, schools, and media, providing resources and materials tailored for each sector. Poëzieweek fosters a love for poetry and invites participants to explore the physicality of human experiences through various literary expressions. In addition to the poetry gift, the celebration includes audio recordings and podcasts, making poetry accessible to a wider audience. As Poëzieweek approaches, anticipation builds for a week dedicated to the beauty and depth of poetry, culminating in an engaging party and the presentation of the Awater Poetry Prize.
