Pôle Alzheimer des Pyrénées-Orientales brings together specialist services to guide people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative conditions, along with their families, toward appropriate, personalised support. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, the organisation combines France Alzheimer P.O., the Le Grand Platane day-care centres and a support platform for family caregivers.

Le Grand Platane provides autonomous therapeutic day care in Perpignan, Argelès-sur-Mer and Millas. Its activities include adapted physical exercise, cognitive workshops, art therapy and music therapy, offering participants opportunities for engagement and social connection while giving caregivers respite.

The caregiver platform offers listening, information, advice and guidance, with meetings available at its premises or at home. Support also includes psychological assistance, friendly gatherings, family caregiver training and a “Temps Libéré” home-relay service. A programme is available for younger people with the condition, under 65. Through France Alzheimer P.O., the wider organisation informs, supports, assists, trains and raises awareness among local communities. It also shares activities, events and resources for families and caregivers.
