Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI) is a police-owned organisation that has worked on behalf of the Police Service throughout the UK for more than 20 years. Its mission is to support crime prevention and help create safer places to live, work and visit through practical initiatives, standards, accreditation schemes and training.
Police CPI’s programmes address security across buildings, public spaces and specific sectors. Secured by Design promotes improved security for buildings and their surroundings, while the Police Crime Prevention Academy provides formally accredited, portable qualifications in crime prevention and designing out crime. Other initiatives include guidance on alarm-system requirements, accreditation for community safety schemes, Secured Environments, the Security and Vulnerability Initiative, Safer Parking, and protective security for faith communities. The organisation also supports schemes for fuel retailers and cost recovery agencies, licensing, Safer Streets and fraud prevention.
Through these activities, Police CPI works with police and organisations to reduce opportunities for crime and disorder.
