About All-Ireland Pollinator Plan
The All-Ireland Pollinator Plan is an innovative framework established in 2015 to address the alarming decline of pollinator species across Ireland. Coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre and guided by a dedicated steering group, the initiative unites local authorities, businesses, farmers, and communities to create supportive landscapes for pollinating insects. Recognizing that one-third of wild bee species are at risk, the Plan outlines actionable steps to restore their populations.
The initial phase from 2015 to 2020 saw over 81 actions implemented by more than 100 organizations, fostering awareness and providing practical guidelines tailored to various stakeholders, including schools and sports clubs. Currently in its second phase (2021-2025), the Plan encompasses 186 ambitious actions across six objectives, engaging over 300 partners to further biodiversity efforts. By leveraging free resources, individuals and organizations are empowered to contribute to pollinator recovery, promoting a thriving environment for these essential species throughout the island.
