PONDERFUL is an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing the significance of ponds in biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation. Funded by the European Union under the H2020 “Research and Innovation Programme,” this project is spearheaded by the University of Vic in Spain. PONDERFUL seeks to harness the ecological potential of ponds, which have been historically undervalued but are crucial for providing vital ecosystem services. The project's objectives include developing nature-based solutions (NBS) for effective pond management, stimulating stakeholder engagement, and generating multimodal frameworks to predict and model responses to climate change impacts on pond ecosystems.

Through workshops, communication strategies, and resource dissemination, PONDERFUL promotes awareness and understanding of the integral role ponds play in supporting biodiversity and ecosystem services. Collaborating with various academic and consulting partners across Europe and Latin America, PONDERFUL is committed to enhancing the understanding of pondscapes and facilitating their role in fostering resilient ecosystems and sustainable landscapes for future generations.
