Ponys Bad Doberan is a child-focused riding education and pony-care service led by Silvia. Inspired by Montessori principles, it helps children build a respectful relationship with horses through practical care, observation and age-appropriate activities rather than performance-focused riding lessons. Children learn about pony grooming, feeding, handling and appropriate care, while developing motor skills, confidence, responsibility and social abilities.
The program serves children from 18 months to over eight years. Mini-Pony sessions for children aged 1.5 to 3 introduce them to ponies alongside a trusted adult, with gentle sensory experiences and supported opportunities to develop balance. Children aged 4 to 8 take part in small, mixed-age groups that combine pony care, groundwork and first riding exercises. Younger participants learn through play, while older children can take on greater responsibility and become role models.
The ponies include Shetlands Manni, Paula and Gitti, with Tinker mare Lilo available occasionally. The service also offers educational, supportive experiences for children with needs such as ADHD, autism, developmental delays or anxiety.
