Ponys am Deich is a small pony school in Wangerland, Friesland, near Germany’s North Sea coast, run by Nadja Biber. Its approach treats each horse as a partner and friend, with the ponies’ wellbeing at the heart of teaching. The school aims to help children develop social skills and motor abilities while learning to handle animals with enjoyment and fairness.
Activities include meeting and grooming the ponies, guided rides, group riding lessons, farm visits and pony outings through the surrounding countryside. Guided riding sessions include preparing the pony together by grooming, saddling and bridling. Group lessons teach children aged five and older the basics of riding, with up to six children per class. Guest rides can welcome children from age two, with an adult leading the pony; helmets are required and can be borrowed free of charge.
The school also offers a full day on the farm, featuring pony care, riding and other activities.
