About Port des Lumières
Port des Lumières, created by Culturespaces, is set to open its first permanent immersive art exhibition center in Hamburg by spring 2024. Located in the new Westfield Hamburg Überseequartier in the HafenCity, the art center, fittingly named "Port des Lumières," promises diverse exhibitions, stunning technology, high design quality, and a truly immersive art experience. This innovative digital art form allows visitors to immerse themselves in the art and the history of the artists, stimulating all senses for a unique art encounter beyond traditional painting viewing. The inaugural exhibition, "Gold und Farbe," will feature works by Gustav Klimt and pay homage to Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
The location in the Überseequartier was chosen for its maritime identity, with its proximity to the harbor and water reflecting Hamburg's maritime history. The maritime themes are reflected in the architectural design, inviting visitors to explore the history of transatlantic cruise lines from Hamburg to the world.
